To All Former Shipmates of the USS Bristol DD 857:
On behalf of the USS Bristol Veterans Association we want to extend an invitation to you to become a member of the Association. Founded in 1998 by a small group of shipmates the Association now numbers 253 shipmates who served on the Bristol from its commissioning in 1945 to its decommissioning in 1968.
The Association is fraternal organization which seeks to bring together all of us who share the experience of having served aboard the Bristol. We communicate through this website, via a printed newsletter and through our annual reunion. The annual reunion is much like a family reunion. Members from all parts of the United States gather together for four days and enjoy the company of shipmates they served with and shipmates who served either before or after them.
Seventeen annual reunions have been held in various parts of the country. The 2012 reunion was held in Savannah, GA, the 2011 reunion was held in Dallas, TX. Nashville, TN hosted us in October 2013 and Branson, MO in 2014. The 2016 reunion is scheduled for Wilmington, NC.
You can get a taste of the reunions by visiting our reunions page. The annual dues are $15 a year and the fiscal year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. A registration form and mailing instructions are shown below.
