A long time ago, the city of Newport was a grand Navy town. It had all the requirements that a Navy town needed to succeed. There was entertainment, drink, food, and bars. The Blue Moon was a very popular hangout for the sailors. Every sailor that had leave in Newport probably made at least one step at the Blue Moon. Newport was the brightest jewel in the Destroyer Navy's crown. Shipmates carry fond memories of their days aboard the Bristol and times spent in Newport.
As time goes by, we tend to forget the bad times and cling to the memories of the good times that were spent with shipmates and friends. Newport holds great memories for all the Bristol shipmates, and may they never be forgotten.
